Everyday Makeup Products

I rarely every change makeup products or test new ones, once I find something I like I stick to it and therefore my every day makeup routine hardly ever changes. The following products are ones I have been using for a while and I will continue to use these until I find something better. So here are my absolute favourites (links below).

Revlon Colourstay Foundation (combination/oily): Sand Beige (180)

As someone with combo/oily skin, I found it really difficult to find a product that worked against this and didn’t look cakey or too matte. The coverage in this foundation is medium/full which is the most that can be expected for a high street brand but this is definitely buildable. This covers any spots or discolouration in my skin really well but still manages to look lightweight. In my opinion, the only downfall for this product would be that I use it up very quickly compared to other foundations, I don’t know if maybe I’m just using more but I feel that it takes more than it usually would to put on one layer.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer: Fair (1)

This product is super cheap for what you get. It’s great for covering blemishes/spots as well as brightening areas. I would highly recommend this to any one who has issues with their skin because this is a high coverage concealer that does not disappoint.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder: Transparent (001)

I have been using the powder for years and still love it, I’ve tried others but this one is still my favourite because it gives me a matte finish without feeling heavy on my face. It also adds a little extra coverage which is great for bad skin days.

Collection Contour Kit Highlight & Sculpt

I love the bronze colour in this kit, I think its really difficult to find the perfect colour because many are too orange or too dark brown but this one is perfect and its matte which is even better. It’s very cheap and surprisingly pigmented for the price. Although I don’t like the highlighter in this kit because I feel it’s a bit flat and dull, I love the contour!

No.7 Natural Blush Tint Powder: Soft Damson

This is a really subtle blush colour which I prefer in all honesty. it literally just tints my cheeks as I don’t like too much going on, especially if I have contoured and I’m wearing a lot of eye makeup. This colour is buildable which is good if you’re looking for a more prominent blush but it’s not a very strong colour overall.

New Look Glow Baked Highlighter Powder: Light Pink (70)

This is one of my favourite products. This highlighter is so pigmented and I get so many compliments on it. It’s a really good dupe for the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish and less that half the price. All my friends ask to borrow this and I actually bought it to a few of them for birthday and Christmas presents and they all love it. The colour I chose was light pink and honestly there isn’t much of a pink under tone, I picked it because it meant it was just a flat white like other highlighters, it looks like an ivory colour which looks so good.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I use this all the time so even though it is a bit more expensive, its definitely worth it. the colours are really pigmented and blendable and this palette is my favourite out of all the Naked palettes because its got the most neutral colours which I wear most during the day. On an every day basis, I use ‘Naked’ as a base and ‘Virgin’ to highlight under my brow bone. for daytime I feel the colours that go best together are ‘Sin’ on the lid with ‘Toasted’ in the crease or ‘Sidecar’ on the lid and ‘Buck’ in the crease. The other colours I usually use for going out makeup as they are a bit darker.

Bourjois Feutre Eyeliner: Noir (11)

Unlike other felt tip eyeliners, this one is a prominent black and is very easy to use. I prefer to use this type of eyeliner because its fool proof, especially when it comes to the wings which is the hardest part. However, I didn’t feel this product ran out rather quickly which was disappointing but to be expected with felt tip eyeliners.

Clinique High Impact Mascara: Black (01)

I’ve yet to find another mascara which makes my lashes look like this and stays on all day. I’ve tried all the hypes of Maybelline last sensations (which is also very good) and Benefit Bad Gal Lash but none have come close to this. this shows in the price as this is a little more expensive but much needed as I’ve very short lashes, plus it has the brush applicator which is a massive positive. I rate this product so much and would 100% repurchase.

High Impact™ Mascara

Revolution Ultimate Brow Palette: Medium to Dark

I hadn’t heard much about this palette even though its been about a while but fell in love with it immediately as I got it as a gift from my mum. There are so many shades to choose from (wax and powder) to make sure you get the perfect shade and since I’ve been using this I’ve gotten a lot of compliments. There is also a highlight wax and power which really defines the brows and make them stand out and look clean cut. This is such a good palette for the price and I would definitely recommend.

Gosh Velvet Touch Lipstick: sweetheart (161)

This lipstick is so creamy and soft on the lips but still has a strong colour. It’s a pinky brown colour with undertones of mauve and its a subtle colour, perfect for day time or a night out. This is definitely my go to.

My Fashion Wish List

So I’ve been looking through all the SS17 looks and honestly all of them are so nice that I’m tempted to going on a spending spree, unfortunately, my budget doesn’t allow for that. Instead I’ve made a wish list of the main pieces that I love, even though that doesn’t come close to actually buying them, it will have to do.  (links below)

Must Watch TV Shows

Being a Netflix fanatic, I always have to be watching a T.V show to keep me occupied. Currently I’ve been watching Riverdale which is a show about teens at a high school dealing with all the normal drama as well as the mysterious death of a local boy. Honestly, I’m hooked, but the problem is that the episodes go up weekly which is annoying because I’m more of a ‘binge watcher’ and like to be finished a series within a few days. But as far as binge watching goes, I’ve got loads of shows to recommend and because I can’t possibly pick favourites, these are in no order.

1.) My Mad Fat Diary

I feel that every teen needs to watch this show because you learn so much from it. Its about a girl who has been mentally ill and is trying to fit in with the ‘cool gang’. Honestly this makes me laugh every time I watch it, its hilarious and cringe-worthy while still dealing with real problems that exist. Mental health issues are such a big deal today and this shows deals with them directly from depression and low self esteem to eating disorders, not going to lie, I’ve shed a tear or two watching this. Its something everyone can relate to and is definitely a ‘must see’!

2.) Peaky Blinders

This is set in the 1920’s in Birmingham, England and is about a gang who work around the law to get power despite a police officer trying to catch them. This is honestly so good, I loved it! Plus, with Cillian Murphy playing the main role and Tom Hardy coming into season 2 as a gang leader, what’s not to love? This show is perfect for anyone and everyone as it features crime and action with a bit of romance meaning it ticks all of the boxes.

3.)Broadchurch

This is definitely in my top 3 favourites, honestly it’s an amazing show. It’s about a boy who is found dead on the beach and the local detective along with a new detective try to figure out what happened. I remember watching it and not being able to stop, there were so many cliff hangers that I just needed to keep watching. Every time I thought I knew who the killer was, they would drop a bombshell to keep everyone guessing. The ending was such a surprise as well, I wont give too much away but just expect the unexpected with this one.

4.)Sherlock

Again, another crime drama, but this one is different. For a start it has Benedict Cumberbatch, but it’s also quite funny and interesting while still having the serious element. Even though we always know Sherlock will figure out the mystery, this still has me on the edge of my seat and still manages to surprise me with the outcome every time. I also like the fact that the episodes are an hour and a half long, its like watching mini-movies, but it means the series itself is really short.

5.) Gavin and Stacey

Just because everyone needs a bit of James Cordon in their lives. Honestly, this makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch it, it’s comedy gold. This is one of those shows I always go back to, especially at Christmas because the Christmas special is the best. I would go as far to say that this series is the best British romantic comedy series out there.

6.) Gossip Girl

This is a drama about teens in the upper east side of New York City and all that comes with it in terms of drugs, sex and relationships. If you like pretty little liars, the OC or 90210, you’ll love this for sure. Another strong point for this is the abundance of good looking boys to admire, just saying. There are 6 season with over 20 episode each (except for the last season which only has 10) and that is bound to keep you hooked for months and calls for serious commitment.

7.) Awkward.

This is another coming of age show about a girl who has the worst luck in life and she’s just trying to survive high school. It’s quite funny because everything just seems to go wrong for her in the most public and embarrassing ways that you can empathise with her so much. Plus, there’s a few high school romances thrown in for good measure which is always a positive.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love all the classics like Friends, Inbetweeners and Family guy but when it comes to binge watching, these shows are definitely the best in my opinion. With crime, action, drama, romance and comedy, there is something for every one to watch. Enjoy!

My Skin Care Essentials (affordable)

Like everyone else, I have a few essential skin care products that I absolutely couldn’t live without. Being someone who doesn’t have perfect skin in any shape or form, I prioritise skin care above every thing else. My skin is so sensitive, especially around my eye area which gets all red, blotchy and flaky if I use the wrong product. I also have a tendency to get spots as I have a combination type skin with a very oily T-zone and dry rough patches elsewhere. I always stay away from baby wipes/make-up removing wipes because no matter what the brand they cause my skin to breakout and leave me with panda eyes which isn’t my greatest look. So without further ado, here are my holy grail products…

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (combination and sensitive skin)

For years I had been using the regular Garnier Micellar Water (pink bottle) every day without any complaints, however, recently I decided to change to the one for combination and oily skin after a serious breakout and I was really pleased with it. I use this every day without fail, first thing in the morning to remove any oils that have set in over night and last thing in the evening to remove my makeup and generally clean my face. This product leaves my skin feeling so much softer and cleaner than before and just generally a lot more fresh without leaving a greasy layer like many other similar products. Saying that, I would still highly recommend the pink bottle as it is still such a good product obviously depending on your skin type. I know this product caters to other skin types, for example there is an oil infused micellar water for dry skin, however, I don’t think this would be for me due to the nature of my skin but I have heard very good reviews on it from a few of my friends. Not only is the micellar water a great product that caters for all skin types, but its super affordable. I bought a 400ml bottle in Superdrug for £3.29 and it lasts me months, so I highly recommend to anyone on a budget!

Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

This is another one of the products I use on a daily basis, usually at night. I have been using this for years and have raved about it to my family and friends because I genuinely love it! This product is basically a face wash that lathers into your face and leaves it feeling minty fresh. I honestly cant describe the feeling on my face after I wash this off,  it feels so clean but also super minty. Its really soft on the skin and strips away any access oils which is great after a long day of wearing makeup. Again this is really affordable at around £5 for a 200ml bottle. This is really up there with my top favourites and it has made me really excited to try what else Bioré has to offer in their skincare range.

L’Oreal Skin Perfection Cleansing & Perfecting Milk

This is my go-to for when I have really dry skin and I want to put some moisture back into my face. It’s great at removing makeup and doesn’t completely strip your skin of oils which is good for someone with dry skin. Plus, its an added bonus that it is suitable for sensitive skin. As my skin is oily around 70% of the time, I don’t always pick up this product but its definitely my first choice if my skin is feeling dry and so would be great for someone who is looking for a cleanser that also hydrates. This product is surprisingly cheap at £4 for the 200ml bottle.

Lush Dark Angels Fresh Cleanser

This is definitely my favourite product out of them all. I would say this is more of an exfoliating scrub than a cleanser but either way it does an amazing job! It really works in making my skin feel so soft, and the smell of the rosewood oil and sandalwood oil makes it so relaxing and perfect for a pamper night. It contains charcoal to draw out the dirt in your skin and it definitely does just that, I noticed a difference in my blackheads after only using it a few times. Its different from other scrubs in that it doesn’t strip all the moisture from your skin, it takes away the bad oils but still manages to hydrate the skin leaving it silky smooth. I would probably use this twice a week as I don’t like to scrub my face too often, plus a little goes a long way. This is priced at £7.25 per 100g pot and without a doubt its worth every penny.

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser (Oil Free)

This is an oil free moisturiser than works on preventing spots and blemishes. Since I started using this about two years ago I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my skin, especially with regards to oil. it really has cut down the oil in my skin, especially in my T-zone area which has lead to less spots as a result. This is a relatively thin moisturiser which I prefer for the bulk of my face as think moisturisers often tend to leave my skin oily after a while. I apply this morning and night, however I tend to avoid my eyes as I feel they need a thicker moisturiser. This again is very cheap at £3.25 for a 100ml bottle which lasts quite a while.
